Today we are releasing a major new version of PeerTube, our alternative to centralized video platforms like YouTube.

I took part in the crowdfunding and nice to see that the live feature really made it.

#^TYPO3 v10 LTS — Safe and Sound
Image/photo

Today we are thrilled to announce the release of TYPO3 v10.4, also called TYPO3 v10 LTS indicating this is a long-term support version. This version is our new flagship and is, without doubt, one of the most advanced PHP-based open-source content management systems on the market.
After publishing five sprint releases since July 2019, we can proudly claim that we have equipped TYPO3 with the top modern PHP libraries and that we have introduced some fantastic new enterprise features. TYPO3 raises the bar even higher, and the core of the system is more stable than ever.
This article summarizes the major changes of all 10.x sprint releases and why website owners, integrators, developers, and editors alike will embrace the new LTS version.

Theia

#^Theia 1.0 - Finally a Good Browser IDE
We are excited to announce Version 1.0 of Eclipse Theia, the vendor-neutral open-source IDE platform that runs in browsers and on desktops.

My experience was that it was a bit of luck if VS Code extensions did really work. Tried to debug one extension in Theia, but after 4 evenings getting lost in endless loops in the debugger I gave up. Should give it a try again.

Reminds me I still need to update Eclipse Che.

TYPO3 v10.2 is out now — the last sprint release of the year. A lot of functionality was developed during the TYPO3 Initiative Week (T3INIT19) and TYPO3 v10.2 contains some of these components. We are excited to see that we made a big step forward to shape the next LTS release.

NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED?!?

 Fri, 25 Oct 2019 11:02:40 +0200
The last Firefox update to 70 is quite a PITA. It is very slow loading sites in general, many sites do not work at all, many JavaScripts throw a NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED error, etc. :sigh

Icinga Director v1.7.0

 Mon, 30 Sep 2019 11:01:42 +0200
Finally \o/

#^Icinga Director v1.7.0 has been released
Over the last four years, the Icinga Director has grown from an optional configuration add-on to a mature Software product with lot‘s of features. Most Icinga installations are now driven by the Director, no matter whether they are small or huge, manually curated or fully automated.
But it will not stop here. Many cool ideas are eager to finally become reality. Director v1.7 is a huge step in that direction, as it lays the foundation for a completely new type of features. We are now able to delegate complex tasks to a dedicated background daemon that has been introduced with this version. New library modules have been published, allowing us to share cool bleeding edge funtionality among different modules in a more efficient way.

The first release that includes my property modifier from December last year. ;-)

#^Icinga 2.11
Now we are here, after many months of development – we proudly release Icinga 2.11 available today.

Bleeding edge
It has been an emotional ride with many changes under the hood. The most obvious change is that Icinga’s distributed cluster operates more stable, the past quirks with hanging certificate signing requests or dead-locked TLS handshakes are now gone. This required us to go an unusual route: Evaluate new libraries and programming techniques in order to replace hand-written lower layered code, with later replacing the entire code base for the network stack operations in Icinga. This is a massive effort in quality and stability where users had called out for 3.0 already.

#^SIEM on the Elastic Stack | Elastic SIEM
Security teams use Elastic SIEM to detect threats by analyzing events from network, host, and cloud technologies, as well as other data sources.

Elastic SIEM equips security practitioners with easy data ingestion via Beats, shareable analytics based on the Elastic Common Schema (ECS), and the ability to interact with security data using the #SIEM app in Kibana. As threats continue to evolve, so too will Elastic SIEM.

lost Wave

Introducing Wave theme in OXID eShop • OXIDforge
With #OXID eShop release 6.1.2 all editions we introduce the new Wave theme to the public which will be packaged with compilation. Read more about it.

In the storefront, only minor adjustments were made in comparison to the Flow theme: our aim is not to restyle or redesign the existing Flow theme – rather our duty is to deliver a lightweight, slender and willowy (yet functional) basis for your projects that you don’t have to purge first. However, we want to improve and update some frontend components. In this manner, Wave is more a progression than an evolution.

:shrug I still don't get it. They copy all the legacy JavaScript from the pre-predecessor theme, switch from #Bootcrap 3 to Bootcrap 4 and call it a new theme? #WTF?!?

#^Director v1.6.0 is available

#^Jenkins Security Advisory 2018-12-05
Code execution through crafted URLs
Jenkins uses the Stapler web framework for HTTP request handling. Stapler’s basic premise is that it uses reflective access to code elements matching its naming conventions. For example, any public method whose name starts with get, and that has a String, int, long, or no argument can be invoked this way on objects that are reachable through these means. As these naming conventions closely match common code patterns in Java, accessing crafted URLs could invoke methods never intended to be invoked this way.

QLC+ 4.12.0 released

 Fri, 16 Nov 2018 00:58:31 +0100
Every time I start this program I am amazed by its progress. Always want to find and set up my lights again, but I need more space. I am really looking forward to QLC+ 5. The previews are so impressive.

#^Nov 10, 2018 QLC+ 4.12.0 release - Q Light Controller+
Today the QLC+ project reaches another important milestone: version 4.12.0.
From a user perspective, this is mostly a bugfix release. However, from a development perspective, this is a HUGE release.
In the last 6 months there's been at least 5 quite invasive reworks, caused by some flawed architectural designs and partly by the QLC+ 5 needs.
