Deutsche Welle's Bonn headquarters have a long history of creating radio in 30 languages from around the world. For the city's newly appointed sound artist, Norwegian Maia Urstad, the broadcaster is a playground.

017’s city sound artist bonn is the norwegian artist maia urstad, who is considered one of the most internationally renowned and successful scandinavian sound artists. she is a visual artist, musician and performer, who works at the intersection of audio and visual art. in her sound installation she uses mostly found materials as well as radio or telecommunication signals. urstad was born in 1954 in kristiansand and lives and works in bergen, norway.

bonn hoeren will take place in 2017 in cooperation with deutsche welle and beethovenfest bonn. at the centre of the artistic work of the city sound artist will be the linguistic diversity in which the deutsche welle’s foreign programming is produced and broadcasted.
