States Parties recognize the important function performed by the mass media and shall ensure that the child has access to information and material from a diversity of national and international sources, especially those aimed at the promotion of his or her social, spiritual and moral well-being and physical and mental health.
To this end, States Parties shall:
(a) Encourage the mass media to disseminate information and material of social and cultural benefit to the child and in accordance with the spirit of article 29;
(b) Encourage international co-operation in the production, exchange and dissemination of such information and material from a diversity of cultural, national and international sources;
(c) Encourage the production and dissemination of children's books;
(d) Encourage the mass media to have particular regard to the linguistic needs of the child who belongs to a minority group or who is indigenous;
(e) Encourage the development of appropriate guidelines for the protection of the child from information and material injurious to his or her well-being, bearing in mind the provisions of articles 13 and 18.

Die Vertragsstaaten erkennen die wichtige Rolle der Massenmedien an und stellen sicher, daß das Kind Zugang hat zu Informationen und Material aus einer Vielfalt nationaler und internationaler Quellen, insbesondere derjenigen, welche die Förderung seines sozialen, seelischen und sittlichen Wohlergehens sowie seiner körperlichen und geistigen Gesundheit zum Ziel haben.
Zu diesem Zweck werden die Vertragsstaaten
(a) die Massenmedien ermutigen, Informationen und Material zu verbreiten, die für das Kind von sozialem und kulturellem Nutzen sind und dem Geist des Artikels 29 entsprechen;
(b) die internationale Zusammenarbeit bei der Herstellung, beim Austausch und bei der Verbreitung dieser Informationen und dieses Materials aus einer Vielfalt nationaler und internationaler kultureller Quellen fördern;
(c) die Herstellung und Verbreitung von Kinderbüchern fördern;
(d) die Massenmedien ermutigen, den sprachlichen Bedürfnissen eines Kindes, das einer Minderheit angehört oder Ureinwohner ist, besonders Rechnung zu tragen;
(e) die Erarbeitung geeigneter Richtlinien zum Schutz des Kindes vor Informationen und Material, die sein Wohlergehen beeinträchtigen, fördern, wobei die Artikel 13 und 18 zu berücksichtigen sind.

I think it depends how information is presented to kids. I see a big difference still between plain information and especially "pictures".

Pictures are actually even harder to make an argument for censorship. If their only exposure to violence is through fiction, then it screws them up not being able to tell fiction from reality. If people try to block them from seeing all violence, and then when they inevitably do see it, they will also be screwed up from thinking it's a naughty pleasure. They will think that war is no big deal and something that always happens in some far off land. Similar troubles for trying to block all nudity. Even worse, if they are taught that nudity always === sexy sexy time, then they are being raised in a Rape Culture. There's a quote in my stream somewhere something like "even if she's standing naked in the street, the only way she gets raped is by a rapist" or something like that. Want to know why people are so screwed up and automaticlly start freaking out when they see naked people? because they are censored from it as children, that's why. It really screws them up.
