The last Firefox update to 70 is quite a PITA. It is very slow loading sites in general, many sites do not work at all, many JavaScripts throw a NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED error, etc.

Web.de/GMX/1&1, etc. broke their mail servers again and rejecting several other providers. Looks like they have added DNSWL to their blacklist. Just few months ago they hard rejected SPF -all over night and changed their own SPF from -all to ~all #Bullshit und Broken by Design

The more I read about "best practices" for testable code the more I believe they don't exist, or are just a pita.

Sind das die Bonner Busfahrer, oder sind die Bonner Busse so kaputt? Ist mir jetzt schon mehrmals aufgefallen. Draussen waren es eben angenehme 23°C in der Nacht. Die Fenster im Bus sind auf. So weit doch alles perfekt! Dann kommt aber von oben ein scheiss kalter Luftstrom der mich fluchen lässt, dass ich keine Jacke dabei hatte. Hin und wieder kommt dann von der Seite auch noch ein richtig heisser Luftstrom von der Heizung.
Ich hasse Klimaanlagen so lange es kühler als 36°C ist und wenn der Unterschied mehr als 5°C sind.

Den grippalen Infekt mit dem ich seit Weiberfastnacht im Bett lag war nach ziemlich genau 10-11 Tagen komplett auskuriert. Einen Tag darauf wurden dann die Halsschmerzen mit denen ich schon am Montag vor Weiberfastnacht zum ersten mal beim Arzt war um einiges stärker und wurde daraufhin eine weitere Woche krank geschrieben. Es wurden dann auch Proben genommen, aber bis letzten Freitag lag noch kein Befund vor und meine Ärztin wollte mir deswegen noch nichts nur auf Verdacht verschreiben. Oder sind ihre Kontingente bereits für diesen Monat erschöpft und schiebt es nur auf Montag in den nächsten Abrechnungsmonat? Für das Wochenende hat sie mir Ibuprofen oder Paracetamol empfohlen, da ich seit Donnerstag kaum mehr schlucken konnte und das Fieber auch langsam immer weiter gestiegen ist.
War heute Morgen in der Apotheke, nachdem ich wieder kaum etwas runter bekommen habe zum Frühstück und hatte nach Ibuprofen oder Paracetamol gefrag und welches davon besser gegen starke Halzschmerzen und Schluckbeschwerden helfen würde. Die Verkäuferin meinte beides wären Schmerzmittel und würden gleich gut helfen. Sie empfahl mir aber auch noch ein paar Lutschtabletten die den Hals beruhigen und Abhilfe schaffen sollten. Ich wollte die dann mal ausprobieren und sie hat mir Ibuprofen und diese Dobendan Direkt Lutschtabletten verkauft. Zuhause dann mal den Beipackzettel durchgelesen und was steht da:

Tja und nu? Vertraue ich auf die Kompetenz des Apothekers, dass die beiden Sachen zusammen passen und dass sie nur das Beste für meine Situation empfohlen hat, oder gab es eine Provision für den Zusatzverkauf der Lutschtabletten? Was macht man nun als normal Sterblicher ohne ein Medizinstudium? "Zu Risiken und Nebenwirkungen fragen sie ihren Arzt und Apotheker." Na danke von denen habe ich das doch.

Bin nur ich so kaputt und habe solche Gedanken über Ärzte und Apotheker, oder ist das Gesundheitssystem bereits so kaputt? Aber was soll man auch denken wenn man nur noch über Wirtschaftlichkeit des Gesundheitssektors hört und von Politik und Krankenkassen eine "wirtschaftliche Verordnungsweise" vorgeschrieben wird an die sich Ärzte zu halten haben?

Naja, zumindest die Lutschtabletten haben sehr gut gewirkt. Kann endlich wieder schlucken ohne mein ganzes Gesicht zu verzerren. Ibuprofen habe ich aber noch nicht verwendet.

Prime Minister, what do you expect the costs of retaining that data will be over two years and how do you balance the privacy concerns? There must be concerns about privacy violations for people who aren't the target?

PRIME MINISTER:
Ok, well, the cost of losing this data is an explosion in unsolved crime. That’s the price of losing this data. For instance, there was a recent child abuse investigation in Europe, in the United Kingdom, which does have metadata retention legislation, about 25 per cent of the suspects were successfully prosecuted using, in large measure, metadata. In Germany, which doesn't have metadata retention legislation, almost none of them were successfully prosecuted. So, if we want to combat crime, we need this legislation and if we don't get it, it will be a form of unilateral disarmament in the face of criminals and the price of that is very, very high indeed.

Now as for the cost of actually retaining the metadata, we have done some work. There are a range of figures which have been taken to the Joint Standing Committee, but even at the highest estimate it's less than one per cent of this $40 billion a year and growing sector. So, we're talking about a $40 billion a year sector and even at the highest estimate we've got, the cost of metadata retention is less than one per cent of the total sector. So, it seems like a small price to pay to give ourselves the kind of safety and the kind of freedom that people in a country like Australia deserve.

Germany is for sure a paradise for child abuse.
And always these terrible federal constitutional courts in Germany that say that the current metadate retention rules are against the constitution. It's not that our politians don't want it, but fuck separation of powers. Who needs such a nonsense?!?

But the numbers are interesting about the costs. Let's see 1% of $40 billion is $400 million a year. According to Wikipedia Australia has an estimated population in 2015 of 23,7 million people. $400 000 000 / 23 700 000 = $16,88 per year for every inhabitant to have the their metadata stored for two years. "a small price to pay to give ourselves the kind of safety and the kind of freedom that people in a country like Australia deserve" Who will pay for this by the way? I don't know how many million criminals they want to catch with this per year, but if the number is not very huge it is a very costly price.

We’re talking here about metadata; we’re not talking here about the content of communications, so, your web browsing history, what you actually say on phone calls, that’s not covered by this. It's just the data that the system generates. So, it’s, to use an old fashioned metaphor if you like, if you look at a letter, you've got the address, you've got the sender, you've got the date stamp, where it was posted and what time it was posted. It's the electronic version of what is on the front of the letter that we want to keep. The contents of the letter, well people can only get access to that with a warrant.

Was läuft eigentlich falsch mit dem Wohnungsbau und Wohnförderungsmaßnahmen in Bonn und ich nehme an in vielen anderen Gegenden auch?

In Bonn gibt es zum Beispiel städtische Wohnungsbauprojekte die Sozialwohnungen schaffen sollen enden aber auf merkwürdiger Weise in Luxuswohnungen, Pflegeheime die schließen und Luxuswohnungen dort gebaut werden, oder was ist mit dem Gelände der ehemaligen Tschechischen Botschaft in Ippendorf wo massenweise schicke neue Wohnungen errichtet wurden von denen aber noch immer mindestens 3/4 leer stehen weil die Preise sich kaum jemand leisten kann. An der Lage kann es zumindest nicht liegen, die ist schon ziemlich gut.

Aber gerade aus aktuellem Anlass mein neues Lieblingsthema: Erbbaurecht

Das alles macht eine Junge Familie doch erst mal ganz optimistisch.

Wie die Stadt mit ihren Vorgaben aber auf die abstruse Idee kommt, dass eine junge Familie mit Kindern, ohne bisheriges Wohneigentum und wo zwei Vollzeit-Tätige mehr verdienen als die Einkommensgrenzen einfach mal so um die €225000 (angenommener Preis des Hauses auf dem Erbbaugrundstück) bar auf den Tisch legen können um einen bestehenden Vertrag mit den alten Konditionen (zugegebenermaßen lächerliche hundert Euro pro Jahr) übernehmen zu können erschließt sich mir auch nach längerem überlegen nicht. Die Alternative wenn man so ein Projekt über eine Bank finanzieren muss zieht eine Vertragsanpassung mit sich welche dann unter anderem schlappe €600 pro Monat Erbpacht umfasst! Dies ist dann natürlich zusätzlich zu den Raten um den Kredit für das Haus abzubezahlen. Eine sehr merkwürdige Form einer Förderung sozial schwächerer Bevölkerungsschichten. Aber natürlich bietet die Stadt das Grundstück ja auch zum Kauf an. Kostet auch nur rund €320000, was das Gesamtprojekt auf astronomische €550000 katapultieren würde. Entweder hat die Stadt sehr merkwürdige Vorstellungen wie man junge Familien fördern kann oder verstehe ich etwas falsch? Kann sich so etwas jemand aus der viel umworbenen Mittelschicht überhaupt noch leisten? Oder bin ich schon so tief in der finanziellen Unterschicht angelangt? Wenn ich eine ganz böse Rechnung aufstellen wollte und die Elternbeiträge an die Stadt, Essensgelder, Kindergartenkosten, Musikunterricht, Sportvereinsbeiträge für die Kids, usw. käme ich zwar nicht ganz auf die monatlichen Kosten für die Erbpacht, aber doch in eine Richtung wo man sagen könnte, dass es möglich wäre zu finanzieren.

Mit solchen Maßnahmen kann man bestimmt wunderbar sozial schwächere Bevölkerungsschichten unterstützen und Bodenspekulationen werden so auch bestimmt sehr nachhaltig bekämpft wo der Quadratmeterpreis über die letzten zehn Jahre doch um schlappe €100 gestiegen ist.
Von den Zielen die mit dem Erbbaurecht wohl mal angedacht waren bleibt wohl nicht viel übrig, da welche pleite Stadt wird es sich schon leisten können unter den aktuellen Bedingungen erschwingliche Erbpachtzinsen für schwächere Bevölkerungsschichten zu nehmen, wenn man das Grundstück doch auch direkt verscherbeln und die Stadtkasse kurzfristig manipulieren kann.

Nagut, wenn ich mir die Preise bei solchen Immobilienportalen im Netz ansehe ist das sogar noch fast ein Schnäppchen. Da findet man auch ähnliche Objekte für über €800000.

Sounds good, but are you kidding me? Only one user can use this tool by default? This is a wonderful example what M$ understands with "scales". Their marketing is really good in selling you all these nice features and functions and everything is so easy, integrated and automated, but when you want to use it as advertised you are left alone and you have to fix everything manually first.

By default, the MAP Toolkit will install SQL Server 2012 Express LocalDB during setup. As LocalDB is specific to the user account that installed it, You will only be able to run it from the initial account that did the installation. The repair process is actually placing LocalDB on the second user accuont and creating a new instance for MAP to reference.

Took me nearly three hours to recover a broken systemd boot process with OpenSUSE. Would have been soooooooo much easier and quicker if it would tell me what the heck it is trying to do and what failed. But no it would be much to easy to tell LVM has a missing symbol and cannot do anything. But it must be my ignorance to not understand such messages:

After I got a recovery console without anything that would let me recover a system I was looking for an old Slackware CD, vgchange -ay, mounting, chroot, reinstall some lvm packages, reboot, finished.

I fucking hate modern hardware!!! It only breaks and you can do nothing to fix it.

Since two days I have no sound on my #Jolla phone anymore. No music, no alarm, but I can still talk on the phone at least. Had this problem before and a reboot solved it, but not anymore.
Monday I bought a new mainboard for my computer, that broke Saturday. Just to realise I need also a new power supply because the old one has just 2x2 power plug, but I need 2x4 for the new CPU. So the next day I got a power supply finally. After everything was assembled only the CPU fan spins, CD and HDD rotate, but no screen, no keyboard LED, even no error speaker sounds. Today the shop was already closed when I returned from office. Let's see when I will have a working computer again.

I should feel pity for everyone who has to work with #Ruby and rubygems. What a fucking dependency and incompatibility hell.

I used to install mailcatcher through gem install in my Vagrant provisioning scripts for a long time. Suddenly a dependency requires a newer Ruby version than what is available on CentOS6. On CentOS7 it still works, but installs another dependent package in a version that causes Encoding::CompatibilityErrors. Installing an older version of the package and everything is fine. And yet another runtime dependency is not installed by gem and needs to be installed manually. Oh and in CentOS6 gem installs it to /usr/bin in CentOS7 suddenly to /usr/local/bin #WTF?!?

At least I can handle all this in a Puppet module and reuse it, but why must these scripts get so fucked up?
