Very few drivers get to sit at the wheel like Christoph Nettekoven. Even at five degrees Celsius, he lets his left arm hang out of the driver's window and caresses the chromed side mirror at every red traffic light. During sightseeing tours through Bonn, he takes guests to places in his van that tourists do not see on conventional bus tours.

I did not take this sightseeing tour yet and also haven't seen the car in the city, but in the short video in the article it did not look like it had a big foot gas pedal.

Those were quite popular in the US. A friend of mine visiting the US from Germany wanted to drive across the US so I helped him find a VW bus. He ended up buying one from a farmer, i don't recall the year but the engine compartment was very bare, so it was an older model. But it had the big foot pedal, thats how I found out about them.
