Bayer's takeover of US seed giant Monsanto will be completed on Thursday, the company has said. Although Bayer will acquire all of the weed-killer and seedmaker's products, the Monsanto name will be left behind.

It is an opportunity to buy some Bayer‘s stocks. Saf but true. 10% down means 20% up in a few weeks or month.

The problem in North America, at least, is: you can't. There's no way to avoid Monsanto.

There is but you have to avoid 99% of everything. They captured the entire market at least a decade ago, so this is nothing new. They got real big things to government subsidies on corn and soy.

The way to avoid them is to essentially eat healthy (which has never really been easy, but their owning almost the entire food chain does make it even harder). Just avoid any GMO, and avoid foods with 2 or more corn/soy byproducts (just about everything in the grocery store, including health food stores).

It's really easy to miss the corn/soy byproducts because there are literally 1000's of different kinds. The easiest way is to look for foods with only simple ingredients like "sugar". If it has something chemical sounding, it's probably either a preservative, or a corn/soy byproduct.
