If Norway needs a supercomputer for 100 million dollar for just 5million people, how much do they cost for some larger countries? o_O

Its codenamed Steelwinter and is part of a 100 million dollar investment program. The supercomputer will crack heavy cryptology and analyze the vast amounts of data Norwegian Inteligence Service (NIS) collects.

$100,000,000 in Norway is about $600 in US, I think.

That would be cheaper than some desktop PCs. :-)
«NIS has received a four-fold increase (approximately US$100M) in their budget to support this effort», the document says.
The budget increase of about 600 million Norwegian kroners, is spread over the next five years.
So it is not just this computer, but also other surveillance expenses.
